They say that the people who will touch you the most and leave a lasting impression in your heart and mind are the teachers in our life. Dat is no exception.
When I was 18, Dat taught me how to ride. And 26 years later, I have never forgotten him. How could I?
Every single time I’m on my bike, I still hear his voice in my mind…. “Where you look is where you go. Be careful. This isn’t a game. It’s life or death.”
What stood out for me as his student was not only his knowledge, expertise, passion for bikes, and teaching style, but his humbleness, his modesty, his genuineness, and most importantly, how much he cared for his students.
Dat really, REALLY cares about every single one of his students. And I felt his care for me. And here we are 26 years later. I still hold him in my heart knowing that I was taught by one of the best. Because when a teacher cares, you feel that care, and you carry that genuine care with you for the rest of your life.
Dat, I’m so happy after all these years I ran into you at the Donair restaurant in Maple Ridge. You’re a true blessing and inspiration in this world. Thank you for all you do!
